My name is Mayson Skeen-Gregory and I believe that rural art programs in East Tennessee shouldn't just follow the national conversation—they should lead it. As a fifth-year educator at Mt. Carmel Elementary, I’ve dedicated my career to balancing classroom grit with a sophisticated focus on contemporary art and STEAM-driven innovation.
A proud alumna of Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelors of Fine-Arts and focus in Art education, I am currently elevating my practice through a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction at Western Governors University. My commitment to high-level pedagogy recently took me from our regional Niswonger Symposium to the national stage, where I presented my Pendulum Painting research at NAEA 2026 in Chicago.
My mission as your East TN Co-Representative is to bridge the resource gap for rural educators, ensuring that geographic location never limits our students' creative potential. I am a fierce advocate for developing modern, accessible resources that empower teachers to turn every classroom into a hub for contemporary exploration.
