 ART ADVOCATION

“Be An Arts Advocate”

The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic...music, dance, painting, and theatre are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.
— William Bennett, Former US Secretary of Education

TN4ARTS works to support, defend and expand public funding for the arts. They work to educate their members and partners by (a) providing effective advocacy practice, (b) supporting the work of Tennessee’s state legislative arts caucus, and (c) defending the specialty license plate program which provides 80% of the funds granted to nonprofit organizations through the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Each year, the Tennessee Arts Commission facilitates investments into the arts community through grants. These grant programs help fund the arts activities of more than 800 nonprofits, schools, and local governments in Tennessee.

ArtsEd Tennessee advances, promotes and supports music, theatre, dance, and visual art education through an extremely robust statewide coalition of arts education advocates, including education, community, business, and parent members. ArtsEd Tennessee advocates for the field of visual and performing arts education for all students in Tennessee by mobilizing a coalition of statewide advocates.

With a focus on state policy, ArtsEd Tennessee is a champion for supportive policies and essential funding that is then used to advance quality, accessible arts education for all Tennessean students.
